The Secret Weapon in my Medicine Cabinet | Butter Nutrition
If you've been a reader for a while, you already know that I'm all about prevention. If not, you can read more about this here. A big part of preventative health means nutrition and lifestyle play a primary role before any medical intervention. Today I want to tell you about a very important component of that preventative lifestyle I like to call my secret weapon!

Why a secret weapon?

My secret weapon works with the body and can be used to:

  • Uplift negative emotions and inspire courage and strength
  • Help to soothe burned, bruised or irritated skin
  • Ease occasional sleeplessness
  • Support the immune system
  • Provide nervous system support during
    times of stress
  • Clean the home in a non-toxic way
  • Support the body's natural defenses
  • Protect the body and contribute to
    better health
  • Can support mental clarity
  • Provide a fun and creative hobby

And this is just scratching the surface!

So what the heck am I talking about?

ESSENTIAL OILS! They are the perfect complement to a natural health lifestyle as they quickly penetrate the skin into the bloodstream to support the immune, circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, digestive, nervous, and other body systems. Essential oils also aid in maintaining normal cellular regeneration, have immune enhancing qualities, are high in antioxidants, oxygenating, and aromatic. So not only are essential oils so much fun, but they really have positive effects on the body and promote healthy functioning! Essential oils also have a VERY LONG track record (we're talking biblical times)! According to this source, oils and fragrant incense were mentioned in over 200 bible verses. That speaks far beyond any bias "medical study" to me!

But how do I get started with essential oils?

If you're new to essential oils, it can be a little overwhelming. There are so many different brands and oils to choose from that might leave you confused on where to start. That's why I got started with an amazing starter kit that provided me with the most commonly used 11 oils: including Lavender, Peppermint, Lemon, Frankincense, PanAway (a nice massage oil that relaxes the muscles!), Peace and Calming, Thieves, Purification, Stress Away, Valor and Joy oil blends. It also came with a diffuser, reading material, bonus items and even instructions on how to start your own essential oil biz (if that is something you are interested in). The best part of it all was the PRICE! If you've browsed for oils before, you may notice they are not exactly cheap, but you CAN get them at wholesale if you know where to look! I was able to get my starter kit at a 24% discount because I signed up as a distributor ;)! That means I got everything in my starter kit for $150 (an over $300 value).

I purchased the premium starter kit, and got hooked up with the following (most of which are in the picture below)! It has been SOO much fun getting familiar with the oils and incorporating them into my lifestyle.

Mostly I've been using my oils in the bath, as roll-on perfume, in my new diffuser (included in the premium starter kit), and making my own reed diffusers for around my home!

So there you have it, the secret weapon in my medicine cabinet that I WISH I started using 10 years ago. It's amazing how a single starter kit can begin a transformation in your home and encourage a healthy lifestyle ♥.
