Nourishing Hot Chocolate Recipe

Nourishing Hot Chocolate Recipe | Butter NutritionSometimes you just need a great hot chocolate recipe on hand for cold winter days. I love whipping up a batch of this nourishing hot chocolate to sip on while I read my favorite book or watch the snow fall (okay, this is kinda rare in Seattle)! I hope you enjoy my favorite nourishing hot chocolate recipe!

Nourishing Hot Chocolate Recipe:

1 cup basic coconut milk (recipe below)
½ tablespoon pure cacao powder (like this)
½ tablespoon collagen hydrolysate (optional, for blood sugar balance)
½ tablespoon simple syrup (or sweetener of choice)

Basic Coconut Milk:

1 can coconut milk (I like this additive free brand without guar gum)
1 can water (fill the coconut milk can to measure)
¼ cup simple syrup or honey
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla

Process:

1) Combine coconut milk, simple syrup, cacao powder & collagen hydrolysate in a blender.
2) Heat on the stove-top till desired temp.
3) Top this nourishing hot chocolate with your whip cream of choice and chocolate shavings.

Simple syrup is inverted sugar. All that means is that the sugar is dissolved in water to make a simple syrup (which makes it easier to digest).

To make simply combine 1 cup of water with 1.5 cups organic sugar on the stove top. Bring to a boil, and take off the heat and allow to cool.

      That's it!

Ah thank you. Do you recommend sucanat or white one?
Now I can't wait to try this tomorrow morning. Coconut milk always kickstarts my metabolism (no cold hands during the day =) yayyy).

Would grass fed beef gelatin work instead of the collagen hydrolysate?
